Biographical
Information on Noreen Hall Papatheodorou
Noreen
H. Papatheodorou, MSS, ACSW is founder of Healthwise Directions,
a foundation that specializes in program development and distribution
of health education multimedia and audiovisual materials. The foundation's
programming covers the health spectrum for both patient-education and
professional, nursing and allied health. Mrs. Papatheodorou's primary
area of focus is patient-education dealing with chronic disease, maternal
& child health, women's health, prevention and wellness.
Her professional
background is based in clinical social work, psychotherapy and university
teaching. One of her main focuses has been on the impact of chronic
disease on people and their families. She has been a diabetes educator
for over twenty-five years. As an adjunct faculty member at the UCLA
School of Medicine, she advocated an integral team approach in diabetes
management, (high risk pregnancies and vision loss) and the value of
support groups.
She is also a nationally
and internationally recognized lecturer and workshop leader who has
held and continues to serve on a number of committees and boards.

She has been a
board member for the Palm Beach County Mental Health Association,
the American Association of Diabetes Educators, American Diabetes
Association, the National Children's Cancer Foundation and
the Joslin Diabetes Center Quality Control Council. Her health
education film background includes involvement with Pyramid Films,
Oracle Films and Greenhouse Films. She has acted, edited,
script consulted and worked as a project development coordinator.
As an author, she
has written numerous articles, health booklets and book chapters.
She is currently
working on a project developing resiliency skills for children and a
project on stress management. She remains committed to helping bring
audiovisual and digital health formats for patient and professional
education.
She is married
and the mother of two adult children and Beau, her rescued Bichon!
